We first met when our now 10-year-old daughters ended up in the same grade at City of Lakes Waldorf School in Minneapolis, MN. We're not quite sure how our friendship started, but we are sure that it must have included some sort of attitudinal ribaldry, as is our mutual nature.
Somehow, along the way, we discovered that we are both classical pianists, have oddly similar stories of youth, both love to knit, are unafraid in the face of brutal hardcore metal music, and share the same approach to food (even down to our dietary restrictions--we're both wheat and cow dairy-limited!). We sometimes suspect that we're the same person swimming in two streams at once!
At present, Beth lives with her husband Mike, daughter Lauren (10) son Patrick (7), and three cats in Lakeville, Minnesota. Sheila lives with her husband Doug, daughter Nena (19), daughter Olivia (18), son Noah (16), daughter Aurora (10), daughter Ada Rose (4), one dog, two cats, three chickens and two rabbits in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her oldest son, Jordan (21), is braving the world on his own, making his way as a college student and a brutal metal drummer.
Sheila has been catering for about three years, rather informally, as people just find her. When Beth hosted Sheila's 45th birthday bash this past summer, Sheila was struck with the brilliant idea of making her catering enterprise "real," and invited Beth along for the ride.
Now we're getting our ducks (free range and organic ducks, of course!) in a row as we prepare to officially launch Green in the Twin Cities Metro area of Minnesota.
While we will happily offer a full-service menu (free range turkey, anyone? or would you prefer curried lamb with lentils for Thanksgiving...), we also offer gourmet organic vegetarian cuisine, including wheat-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free epicurian delights.
Check back soon for more about our individual paths to green food consciousness, going wheat-fee, what to do with that sack of potatoes, and more!
